Trojans shut out Cougars on 2 hits

Mitch Hart threw a two-hit shutout in pitching No. 6 USC to an 11-0 victory over Washington State on Sunday in Los Angeles.

The Trojans (17-3, 2-1 Pac-12) picked up 13 hits. Nick Leonard (1-3), the first of six pitchers for the Cougars (12-7, 1-2), got the loss.

• A sacrifice fly by Trent Chatterton brought in the winning run in the bottom of the 13th for UCLA (14-5, 2-1 Pac-12) in a 5-4 victory over Washington (13-7, 1-2).

Golf

The final round of the Bandon Dunes (Oregon) was rained out with Washington State ending up tied for fourth place based on two rounds of play led by Michael Anderson’s 5-under 139, one stroke back of Cody Blick of San Jose State. Duke won the 16-team event via a tiebreaker with Missouri. Gonzaga was 13th with Sean Walsh its leading golfer at 147 to tie for 27th.

• The final round of the Lewis and Clark Pioneers Invitational at Heron Lakes in Portland was rained out, making the Whitworth men and women team champions based on Saturday’s results.

Whitworth’s Oliver Rudnicki was medalist in the men’s tournament with a round of 69.

For the women, Pirates Katie Ochoa (79) and Chelsea Bayley (80) finished first and second.

Arena football

The Spokane Shock acquired wide receiver Ron Harper in a trade that sent defensive lineman Ronnell Lewis to the Los Angeles Kiss, the Shock announced Sunday.

Harper played last season with the San Jose Sabercats and had a team-high 100 receptions for 1,027 yards and 18 touchdowns.  Harper played his rookie season in 2012 with the Shock where he played in seven games and made 51 catches for 472 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Lewis is a rookie out of the University of Oklahoma.

Rainouts

• The San Francisco-Gonzaga baseball game was postponed Sunday and rescheduled for today at 1 p.m. at Gonzaga.

• CC Spokane’s baseball games at Shadle Park HS versus Clark CC and Prairie Baseball Academy were rained out and will not be rescheduled.

• Whitworth’s home softball doubleheader with Pacific was rained out and has been rescheduled for today at noon.
