Age 74

BUERGEL, Linda J.

Was born to Mark and Marguerite Buergel in Spokane on September 30, 1940.

She passed away peacefully on March 4, 2015.

She attended school in Malden for six years and then attended Rosalia School and graduated in 1958.

She furthered her education at Kinman Business University and moved to Seattle in 1960.

She began working for the yellow pages in Seattle and was later transferred to Portland, Oregon where she worked and resided for over 30 years.

She retired in 1990 and continued with contract work for the phone company for several years.

In between those years she lived in New York City; Acapulco, Mexico; and St. Maarten.

Due to health reasons she moved to Spokane in November 2012.

For the last year she resided at the Fairfield Care Center.

She was an active person who loved a good joke (and telling them) spending time with friends and family.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Portland.

She came home often to visit and never forgot anyone’s birthday by sending a card.

She also enjoyed basketball, gardening, and traveling with her many friends.

Her nieces and nephews were like children of her own.

Her nickname was “Linda Jean the Pickle Queen” for her talented pickling abilities.

She was a gourmet cook and loved to entertain in her home.

She is survived by her sisters Diane Hill (Elton), Marilyn Beckett, brother Tony Buergel (Linda).

She is also survived by ten nieces and nephews along with 18 great-nieces and nephews, and five great-great-nieces and one great-great-nephew.

A memorial service will be held to honor and remember Linda on May 16, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at the Rosalia IOOF Cemetery with a gathering of family and friends following the service at the Malden Church in Malden, WA.

Because of the excellent care Linda received, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Fairfield Care, 503 S. Hilltop Lane, Fairfield, WA 99012.
