Museum to air new Scott Reed book
Northern Pacific Railroad Depot Museum news release:
The Northern Pacific Railroad Depot Museum is proud to host an exclusive reception introducing the new book, “A Brief Review of the Coroner’s Proceedings Shoshone County 1893-1901 with Emphasis on the Dynamiting of the Bunker Hill Mine April 29, 1899,” by Scott W. Reed. We will receive Mary Lou Reed and Mary Sanderson as honored guests of this project 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4.
The late Scott Reed, attorney and author has taken the lengthy coroner’s report and created an interesting book worthy of any Silver Valley Library. “A Brief Review of the Coroner’s Proceedings Shoshone County 12893-1901 with emphasis on the Dynamiting of the Bunker Hill Mine April 29, 1899,” (the title is nearly longer than the book) is a little book with big facts of labor war history in the Coeur d’Alene Mining District of North Idaho. Reed explains the origins of the coroner’s office in English Common Law, the Shoshone County Coroner’s Juries, inquest and then tells us the rest of the story. Mary Sanderson of Coeur d’Alene will join the discussion to reveal the discovery of the book in her father’s law library and her ideas on how the book left the Shoshone County Court House, only to be re-discovered in the 21 st Century.
This interesting little book will be available at the NP Depot Museum in Wallace and is a must-have for fans of North Idaho history.
