A husband is suspected of killing his wife’s boyfriend Wednesday afternoon during a fight at the husband’s home in Spokane Valley.
The husband told investigators he had returned home from a trip and found another man with his wife in the morning. The man reportedly hit the husband several times with a golf club before fleeing out a window of the home in the 14800 block of East Queen Avenue. The husband then called police, said Spokane County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Mark Gregory.
Deputies were then called back to the home at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after a fight was reported. They found the husband outside and the other man inside, conscious but bleeding and incoherent, Gregory said. Described by investigators as the wife’s boyfriend, the man later died at a local hospital.
The husband told deputies the boyfriend returned and forced his way into the house before the fight began, Gregory said.
Major Crimes detectives are investigating. The husband has not been charged, Gregory said, and his name has been withheld.
The man who died will be identified by the Spokane County medical examiner after an autopsy.
