Women’s basketball roundup: Idaho romps over Lewis-Clark State

MOSCOW (Idaho) – Six players scored in double figures – led by Connie Ballestero’s 17 – as Idaho opened the game on an 8-0 run and raced past Lewis-Clark State 93-58 in an exhibition game on Friday.

Ballestero made 4 of 5 3-pointers and also dished out a game-high six assists. Also scoring in double figures for the Vandals were Ali Forde (16), Geraldine McCorkell (13), Taylor Pierce (11), Mikayla Ferenz (10) and Christina Salvatore (10).

Idaho made 18 of 24 free throws and had a 43-24 rebounding advantage. The Vandals open the season at home against UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 15.

Hodgins sisters guide Eagles to exhibition win

Cheney – Hayley Hodgins made 9 of 17 shots, including 4 of 8 3-pointers, and scored a game-high 25 points to guide Eastern Washington past Saint Martin’s 77-52 in an exhibition game.

The Eagles’ Delaney Hodgins added 20 points, four assists, two steals and two blocks.

Eastern Washington hosts Eastern Oregon in its season opener next Friday.
