NIC Sentinel places 4th in USA

North Idaho College student newspaper, The Sentinel , took 4th Place in the Best of Show category of two-year colleges at the annual Associated Collegiate Press and Collegiate Media Association media convention in Austin, Texas. The ACP also awarded The Sentinel 7 th Place for Best Website in the Small School division. In addition, the ACP awarded former Sentinel staff member Sally Balcaen an Individual Pacemaker for Opinion/Editorial “Je ne suis pas Charlie.” She placed third in the nation. Each year, the Associated Collegiate Press presents collegiate journalism’s preeminent award, the Pacemaker. There is category for each type of publication – online, newspaper, yearbook and magazine. Entries are judged by teams of professionals based on the following criteria: coverage and content, quality of writing and reporting, leadership, design, photography and graphics/ Tom Greene , NIC Press Room.
