Area roundup: Four WSU women’s soccer players receive All-Pac-12 honors

Four Washington State women’s soccer players received All-Pac-12 honors.

Senior Kourtney Guetlin was named to the first team, junior Kaitlyn Johnson was named to the second team, senior Cara Wegner earned honorable mention and freshman Ella Dederick was selected to the freshman team.

The Cougars host Northwestern Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Championships.

GU’s Baggerly earns All-WCC second-team honors

Gonzaga’s Karley Baggerly was the Bulldogs’ lone representative on the All-West Coast Conference Teams. She was a second-team selection.

Whitworth’s Wolfe, Muelheims earn player-of-the-year honors

Whitworth’s Spencer Wolfe and Karl Muelheims earned player-of-the-year honors from the Northwest Conference. Wolfe was named NWC Defensive Player of the Year and Muelheims was named NWC Offensive Player of the Year.

Wolfe and Muelheims were also named to the All-NWC first team, along with teammates Sam Engle, Caleb Bia and Timmy Costa. Whitworth’s Eric Espinoza, Samual Jarrett and Tyler Pangia were second-team selections and Jonah Snyder and Rylan Berriman earned honorable mention.

The Pirates play Redlands Saturday in San Antonio in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament.

Shock sign linebacker Haag

The Spokane Shock signed linebacker Nick Haag. Haag spent the last two season with the Cedar Rapid Titans.

Whitworth women’s basketball picked second in coaches poll

Whitworth was selected to finish tied for second in a Northwest Conference preseason coaches poll. George Fox received eight of nine first-place votes.

Three Pirates named student-athletes of the week

Three Whitworth athletes were named Northwest Conference Student-Athletes of the Week.

Patch Kulp (football-defensive), Rehn Reiley (football-special teams) and Timmy Costa (men’s soccer-defensive) earned the honors.
