Portland arson suspect arrested

Associated Press

PORTLAND – Portland authorities have arrested a person they believe is responsible for a series of arson fires in southwest Portland.

Brandon Miller was arrested Saturday morning and booked into the Multnomah County Jail. Miller faces one arson charge and 10 counts of reckless burning, officials said.

Miller told police that lives on the streets and had recently moved to Portland from California.

The Portland Fire and Rescue Arson Squad said surveillance video and the cooperation of victims in the case led to the arrest. Miller was apprehended near the scene of the original crime after a staff member recognized Miller and called authorities.

Officials said surveillance video showed the suspect lighting fires and then casually walking away.

Pot store selling to minor, officials say

PROSSER, Wash. – The Washington Liquor and Cannabis Board said a Prosser marijuana store was found to be selling to a minor just over a month after it opened.

The Tri-City Herald reported the Bake Shop was among seven businesses in Yakima and the Tri-Cities that sold marijuana or alcohol to underage investigative aides working with officers during an October sting.

Seven others did not sell to minors.

Fines or temporary license suspensions can be issued to businesses that fail compliance checks.

The Bake Shop became Benton County’s second recreational marijuana retailer when it opened in September.
