Volleyball: Idaho, Eastern Washington fall in regular-season finales

Idaho wrapped up the regular season with a four-set loss to Northern Colorado in a Big Sky Conference match Saturday in Greeley, Colorado. Scores were 25-22, 18-25, 25-23 and 27-25.

Kendra Cunningham led the Bears (14-15, 10-6) with 15 kills and 14 digs. Katelyn Peterson had 16 kills and 13 digs for the Vandals (13-15, 10-6).

Despite the loss, Idaho won the North Division title and secured the second seed to the conference tournament, which starts Thursday in Flagstaff, Arizona.

North Dakota tops Eastern Washington

Faith Dooley had 18 kills and nine blocks and North Dakota (21-12, 9-7) beat Eastern Washington in five sets in a Big Sky Conference regular-season finale in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Scores were 25-21, 15-25, 26-24, 21-25 and 15-13.

Ana Jakovljevic had 22 kills and 14 digs for the Eagles (14-13, 9-7), who had already secured a spot in the conference tournament.

BYU claims comeback-win over Gonzaga

Brigham Young recovered after dropping the first two sets and the 12th-ranked Cougars (23-3, 13-2) beat Gonzaga in a West Coast Conference match in Spokane. Scores were 23-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-16 and 16-14.

The loss was GU’s fourth straight.

Savannah Blinn had 20 kills and Jordan Gasser added 19 to lead the Bulldogs (14-14, 5-10), who play Saint Mary’s in Moraga, California, on Thursday.
