Catholic Charities, United Way accepting volunteers, donations for storm victims

Candles, flashlights and batteries.

That’s what Catholic Charities needs if you have any to spare.

If you’re looking to help those who have been hit hard by Tuesday’s windstorm, Catholic Charities wants to hear from you.

Volunteers are needed to check in on seniors and people living with disabilities. If you have a chain saw and want to help clear a downed tree, Catholic Charities also will help coordinate.

The charitable organization also is soliciting generators, if anybody has them available.

Of course, the group runs warming centers and shelters, so donations are always welcome.

Call Catholic Charities at 358-4250. Or visit its website CatholicCharitiesSpokane.org.

Spokane County United Way has a website to get resources to the people who need them. Visit and sign up at VolunteerSpokane.org/windstorm2015.
