Idaho shelters to get California pets

Volunteers wave goodby to a private plane carrying rescue dogs at the Van Nuys Airport in the Van Nuys section of Los Angeles on Friday. More than 800 cats and dogs from California animal shelters took off for Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Illinois and Wisconsin in the largest Holiday Pet Airlift the Wings of Rescue has ever undertaken. It took 22 private planes and more than 200 volunteers to get all the animals off the ground. Story here. (AP Photo/Richard Vogel)

Question: Seems to me that each state can make an argument that its dealing with a surplus of shelter animals. Dunno if the Holiday Pet Airlift makes sense. Thoughts?
