The Dirt: Iron Goat Brewing moving downtown; dentist, gyms leasing new space
Iron Goat Brewing is preparing space to move its craft beer business to downtown Spokane at 1302 W. Second Ave., near Adams Street.
SDS Construction started interior updates on Sept. 22 for the 1921-built structure formerly occupied by Jones Automotive Engines. Goat Works LLC purchased the property in April for $385,000.
The refurbishing work in 10,300 square feet will create brewery space, a taproom, warehouse and kitchen. An outdoor patio will cover 1,500 square feet.
Iron Goat co-owner Greg Brandt said the estimated $500,000 project could wrap up by year-end, allowing for the move from leased space at 2204 E. Mallon, which has about 4,100 square feet.
“We’re out of space,” Brandt said. “Right now, we can’t keep up with demand. It’s driven us to the point where we needed to get into a larger space.”
He said the new site will have expanded hours, a food menu, art for First Fridays, and live music.
Named after the goat sculpture in Riverfront Park, the brewery was founded in 2012 by Brandt, his wife, Heather, along with another husband-and-wife team, Paul Edminster and Sheila Evans.
