Silvertips beat Chiefs 5-4 in overtime

EVERETT — Remi Laurencelle scored his second goal of the game early in overtime to give the Everett Silvertips a 5-4 Western Hockey League win over the Spokane Chiefs on Saturday.

The loss capped a six-game road trip for the Chiefs. They finished 2-3-1 away from home.

Jason Fram scored in the first and second periods for Spokane. He has five goals on the season, which leads the team. Hudson Elynuik and Evan Fiala also scored for the Chiefs.

Neither team scored in the third period. Spokane goalkeeper Tyson Verhelst stopped 34 of 39 shots.

Despite the loss, the Chiefs (3-3-1-0) gained a point and pulled even with Tri-City atop the Western Conference’s U.S. Division.

The Americans lost 4-1 to Prince George. Everett improved to 3-1-0-0 and are one point behind Spokane and Tri-City.

The Chiefs will return home for a five-game homestand, the longest of the season. They play Prince Albert on Friday.
