The Dirt: Cracker Barrel, a barbecue restaurant and a new Trader Joe’s slated to open in region

Cracker Barrel to open in Coeur d’Alene

A Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurant is slated for Coeur d’Alene.

The company recently filed for a building permit to construct a Cracker Barrel restaurant at 1675 W. Lee Court. The location is east of Ramsey Road between Appleway Avenue and Interstate 90.

Few details are available, but the building project has an estimated $850,000 value. The chain’s sites offer eateries with Southern-style food along with a gift store.

Based in Lebanon, Tennessee, Cracker Barrel has 637 restaurants in 42 states.

Trader Joe’s ready to build on North Division

A Trader Joe’s store for north Spokane is cleared for the start of construction.

The city of Spokane recently issued a building permit to remodel 12,000 square feet at 5520 N. Division St. in Franklin Park Mall for the grocery outlet, with J Hughes Construction listed as the contractor.

The second Trader Joe’s for Spokane will go into roughly half of a former Rite Aid space. That Rite Aid in recent weeks moved into its newly built store on the shopping center’s north side closer to the Burlington Coat Factory.

Dickey’s Barbecue leases space in Valley

A Dickey’s Barbecue Pit franchisee has leased 2,300 square feet at 14720 E. Sprague Ave. in Spokane Valley.

The eatery will open in space previously occupied by Fu Gui Garden restaurant. Another Dickey’s outlet is located at 12628 N. Division St.

The Dallas-based franchise serves barbecue menu items and has more than 500 locations in 43 states.

John Hillier of Goodale & Barbieri and Chris Bell of Black Commercial were agents handling the transaction.

Western Rebar building warehouse

Western Rebar is building a $1 million warehouse and office at 1102 N. Fiske St. in Spokane, according to city records.

The facility will have 2,100 square feet for office space, and a 11,200-square-foot warehouse. Spokane Structures & Concrete is the contractor.

Spokane-based Western Rebar has provided reinforcing steel, welded wire mesh and concrete accessories for the construction industry since 1991. The fabricator supplies construction projects in Washington, Idaho, Montana and parts of Oregon.
