Feedback: Favorite Dorothy Dean recipes

We asked our Facebook friends to share their favorite Dorothy Dean recipes, piggybacking on Wednesday’s Food page, which paid tribute to the Dorothy Dean days with updates of popular recipes. Here’s a sampling of the responses:

Tammy Hotchkiss

Yep, there’s a section in back of Dorothy Dean cook books that have recipes and ideas for holidays.I used the bridal shower ideas for Mary’s shower

Karen Hellstrom Brady

We have used the jack-o-burger recipe every year on Halloween since it was published in 1963. I have the paper from that day!

Joyce Wolff

The potato/cheese/sour cream etc dish….family favorite.

Sue Neeser Riener-Blethen

I have so many red starred recipes, I don’t know where to start! I love it! The Pumpkin Cake on page S26 is great this time of year….what I love about the book is that as a new bride in ‘72, it had easy instructions for everything!

Nancy Graham Russell

I still use Dorothy’s recipes—Chilighetti, do-ahead Sausage Fondue, regular fondue,etc.

Rosemary Shockley

Scalloped green beans every Thanksgiving.

Janice Russell McCall

Orange Sherbet salad, Crab burgers, Wiener Splits, Italian meatball soup, Cranberry Salad, Butterfly Fried Shrimp to name a few. My books are kinda a mess they were so used! The do ahead Sausage fondue a lot!

Judy Leonard

I had two green notebooks filled with them. I remember using the pickle recipes. Lost both of them in a tornado 4 years ago.

Melanie Wallace Delaney

Yes! Porcupine meatballs, do ahead sausage fondue, coconut spice banana bread are just a few of our favorites!

Britta E. Hulbert

Potato Romanoff! Donated complete green binder to charity for Arc of Spokane!

Theresa Schimmels

Huckleberry recipes, banana bread, cherry pie, and a couple of her punch recipes, to name a few. Wish I had the old cookbook!

Mary Dimico

I have the cookbook that my mom had from the 60s. We used it a lot. The sherbet punch is great and all the cookies recipes are the best.

Roxanne Camp

Oh yes, for over 50 years! My favorite? Topsy Turvey Cobbler. The best!
