372 voters in north Spokane County will get extra ballot

Extra ballots will soon arrive to 372 voters in north Spokane County to correct an error made on their ballots for the Nov. 3 election.

The voters live in an area that used to be part of Spokane County Water District 3. But it recently was transferred to Whitworth Water District.

Ballots mailed this week included a race for the governing board of District 3 instead of the two races under consideration in the Whitworth district.

Spokane County Auditor Vicky Dalton said the extra ballot only will include the Whitworth races. Voters should still cast their original ballot, though votes made for Water District 3 won’t be considered. The supplemental ballot should be mailed with the original ballot. But it will arrive with an envelop to send it separately if the original ballot already has been returned, Dalton.

Outcomes of the water district races won’t be changed by the mix-up. All the affected races are uncontested.
