Coeur d’Alene Casino liquor license suspended

The Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel is blaming “excessive” dance moves by hunky male performers for a 10-day liquor license suspension.

No alcohol will be sold in any of the casino and resort venues from Nov. 1 through Nov. 10.

The Idaho Liquor Control Board suspended the liquor license because of the behavior of performers with the traveling male review “Hunks,” casino spokesman Bob Bostwick said in a news release.

“Dancers with the show ‘Hunks’ created the problem, not with nudity but apparently with dance moves the Idaho Liquor Control Board considers excessive,” Bostwick said.

Idaho state law prohibits performers from “simulating sexual intercourse, masturbation, sodomy, bestiality, copulation, flagellation or any sexual acts which are prohibited by law.”

“The dance group violated their contract, which stipulated that they would keep the show within the bounds under Idaho liquor laws,” Bostwick said. “Still, it is the seller who is penalized.”

The Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s casino and resort have served alcohol for about 20 years.

“This is the first time we have had an issue regarding our license,” Bostwick said. “We are always careful to ensure our guests are of legal age, and our staff is trained to monitor consumption.”

Alcohol will not be allowed anywhere on the casino floor during the 10-day suspension. Guests may bring their own alcoholic beverages if they keep the alcohol in their hotel rooms, Bostwick said.

The suspension will not affect sales at the liquor store in Worley or the Conoco convenience store near the resort, he said.

“We will simply make the best of this temporary suspension,” Bostwick said.

In January, the Liquor Control Board revoked the liquor license of The Grail Restaurant in Huetter, between Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls, after that venue hosted “The Ultimate Male Review” in April 2014. The agency cited violations that included nudity and simulated sex acts. The Grail is now closed.
