Slowpitch softball: Mead, Shadle Park advance in playoffs

Sadie Bocook and Shannon Payne recorded three hits apiece Thursday as Mead defeated visiting Lewis and Clark 14-4 in Greater Spokane League slowpitch softball playoffs.

Mead (15-6) produced produced six singles, two doubles and a triple during a 10-run fifth inning to snap a 4-all tie.

The third-seeded Panthers will play at No. 2 Central Valley (16-4) at 4 p.m. Monday in a loser-out game. The winner will advance to Tuesday’s championship game.

Bocook and Payne combined for three runs and three RBIs. Mead’s Destiny Scott added a double and a triple.

Delaney Plumb had two hits, a run and an RBI for the sixth-seeded Tigers (10-12).

Shadle Park 7, Mt. Spokane 6: Meghan Keenen singled and doubled to help the host Highlanders (15-6) hold off the Wildcats (11-10).

Shadle took a 7-3 lead with a four-run fifth.

The fourth-seeded Highlanders will play at No. 1 University (19-1) at 4 p.m. Monday in a loser-out game. The winner will move on to Tuesday’s title game.
