Body found in Spokane River is second this month

Oct. 28, 2015 Updated Wed., Oct. 28, 2015 at 4:16 p.m.

A body was recovered from the Spokane River Tuesday in the same area where the body of a man was found on Oct. 2.

Both bodies were found near the Trent Avenue bridge just east of Hamilton Street. The Spokane Police Department’s Major Crimes unit is investigating and the person’s identity will be released by the medical examiner after an autopsy.

The man found on Oct. 2 was discovered by a paddle boarder. The medical examiner has identified him as 28-year-old Ashton E. Ostheimer, a Central Valley High School graduate. The cause of death is still under investigation.
