Motorcyclist killed in Hillyard crash

A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed this evening when he struck a pickup in Hillyard. The man was driving south on Market Street about 6 p.m. when he struck a northbound Ford pickup turning west on Garland Avenue, said Spokane police Lt. J.D. Anderson. Witnesses said that both drivers had a yellow light and that the motorcyclist had sped up to make the light, Anderson said. “We do have reports that the motorcyclist was driving recklessly before the crash,” Anderson said. The intersection was expected to remain closed while police investigate the crash.
