Giants QB Eli Manning signs lucrative extension

 (Associated Press)

Eli Manning signed a four-year, $84 million contract extension with the New York Giants on Friday. The Giants announced the deal with the two-time Super Bowl MVP two days before the season opener at Dallas. Manning, 34, is now under contract through the 2019 season. The deal will make Manning the NFL’s fourth highest-paid quarterback with an average salary of $21 million. Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers ranks first with a $22 million annual salary, followed by Seattle’s Russell Wilson and Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger. “I’m obviously excited knowing I’ll be a Giant for a long time,” Manning said. “This is where I got started and where I want to finish. … My goal is to earn this contract and do my best and keep trying to win championships for the Giants.” – AP
