Ira Byock: Live Well, Die Well - How to improve care through the end of life will be the focus of Live Well, Die Well, a community conversation with Ira Byock, chief medical officer of the Providence Institute for Human Caring. Byock has authored three books, including 2012’s “The Best Care Possible” in which he tackles the crisis surrounding serious illness. He also wrote “The Four Things that Matter Most” (2004), used widely as a counseling tool in palliative care, hospice programs and pastoral care, and “Dying Well” (1997). WSU Spokane Health Fair - The Nutrition and Exercise Physiology Department at Washington State University will offer health screenings for free to anyone in the community. The following are available: cholesterol testing, various health fitness tests, body composition testing (body fat percentage, BMI and BIA) and blood pressure. Hearing Loss Association – Spokane Chapter - Group provides support, education, advocacy, and camaraderie to people with a hearing loss. Each meeting features a speaker system, real-time captioning, and a room loop to make easy communication possible for all present. Meetings are held the second Saturday of each month, 9:30-11:30 a.m., at Nexus Inland Northwest, auditorium, 1206 N. Howard St. Meetings are free.
