Man arrested for allegedly threatening to kill witness

Police arrested a man suspected of threatening to kill a woman and her daughter if the daughter testified against his step-son in a sexual assault case.

The step-son of Marlon C. Pratt, 39, is accused of sexually assaulting several female students at Shadle High School this year. The teen girl Pratt threatened to kill is his biological daughter, according to court documents.

Her mother told police Pratt is violent. She has had a restraining order against him since 2003, according to court documents. Despite her attempts to hide from Pratt, she told police that Pratt was able to locate her and called her recently to make threats.

She told police that Pratt accused her of “screwing up” his step-son’s life and accused her of orchestrating the case against him. She said Pratt told her he would come to her house and “to deal with” her and her husband if the girl testified, according to court documents.

The woman told police that she took her daughter and her other two children out of school and obtained another protection order against Pratt.

According to police Pratt is a gang member with a violent criminal history that includes a previous conviction for tampering with a witness.

Pratt was ordered held on $22,500 bond in court Friday.
