College sports: Four area athletes receive weekly honors

Eastern Washington senior Kaytlyn Coleman received her third consecutive athlete of the week honor Tuesday when the Big Sky Conference saluted her performance at the Mt. Sac Relays.

Coleman broke her school record in the hammer throw Friday with a toss of 200 feet, 7 inches. She placed seventh overall and was the top collegiate finisher during the meet in Cerritos, California.

Coleman is one of four Big Sky women’s competitors to earn seven career athlete of the week honors.

Also honored were Idaho’s Felipe Fonseca, named Big Sky Men’s Tennis Player of the Week; Whitworth’s Drew Brigham, Northwest Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week; and Whitworth’s Dakota Kliamovich, NWC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
