NHL: Tyler Johnson had two goals and an assist and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the New York Islanders 4-1 on Saturday in Tampa, Florida, to even the second-round series at a game apiece.

Lightning goalie Ben Bishop rebounded after being pulled in second period of Game 1 to make 19 saves. He gave up four goals on 13 shots Wednesday night in a 5-3 loss.

Jonathan Drouin and Victor Hedman each had a goal and an assist for Tampa Bay.

Nikolay Kulemin scored for the Islanders, and Thomas Greiss 27 stopped shots.

Game 3 is Tuesday night in Brooklyn.

After Islanders teammates Cal Clutterbuck and Nick Leddy collided at the Tampa Bay blue line, the Lightning got an odd-man rush that resulted in Johnson’s backhander that opened the scoring 6:03 into the game. The former Spokane Chief extended the Tampa Bay advantage to 4-1 with a late empty-netter.

Drouin made it 2-0 on another backhander that trickled past Greiss at 11:55 of the first. It was the first career playoff goal, coming in his 13th game, for the third overall pick in the 2013 draft.

Kulemin’s deflection cut the deficit to 2-1 on the Islanders’ third power play with 4:45 left in the first.

Hedman stopped a 23-game playoff goal drought to give Tampa Bay a 3-1 lead during a power play at 11:59 of the second. His shot from the blue line went off New York’s Calvin de Haan.

Hedman’s goal came after Clutterbuck was sent off for goalie interference, a penalty that appeared to stun players on the New York bench.

Penguins edge Caps: Eric Fehr scored the tiebreaking goal against his former team with about 4 1/2 minutes remaining, giving the Pittsburgh Penguins a 2-1 victory over the Washington Capitals that tied the Eastern Conference second-round playoff series at a game apiece.

Fehr redirected a pass out of a corner from Evgeni Malkin, sending the puck off the right post and past goalie Braden Holtby. Fehr played parts of nine seasons in Washington across two stints before leaving as a free agent last summer to join Pittsburgh.

Carl Hagelin had put Pittsburgh ahead in second period of Game 2, before Marcus Johansson pulled Washington even on a power play with about 16 minutes to go in the third.

The series shifts to Pittsburgh for Game 3 on Monday night.

Spurs topple Thunder in Game 1

Basketball: LaMarcus Aldridge had 38 points and the San Antonio Spurs dismantled the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder 124-92 on Saturday night, never trailing in Game 1 of the second-round series.

Kawhi Leonard added 25 points, five rebounds and five assists in 22 minutes for San Antonio. The Spurs led by as many as 43 points and sat their starters in the fourth quarter to rest them for Game 2 on Monday night.

Aldridge broke out for his finest performance of the season after Memphis held him to 14.5 points in the first round, nearly seven points below his regular-season numbers. Aldridge was 18 for 23 from the field, including his first 3-pointer of the season and banking in a left-handed scoop shot as he was falling in the lane.

Leonard and Aldridge combined for 45 points in the first half, outscoring Oklahoma City as a team by four. Unfortunately for the Thunder, the rest of the Spurs were just as impressive early.

San Antonio matched a postseason franchise record for points in a quarter with 43 in the opening period.

Serge Ibaka led Oklahoma City with 19 points, but was limited to two rebounds.

Kevin Durant had 16 points, and Russell Westbrook added 14, but they were harassed into 11-for-34 shooting.

Davender dies: Former Kentucky guard Ed Davender, the only Wildcat with at least 1,500 points and 400 assists, has died. He was 49. The school announced that Davender died Thursday night after suffering a heart attack earlier in the week.

Davender scored 1,637 points and made 436 assists while playing with the Wildcats from 1984-88. He ranks 11th on the school’s career scoring list. He’s among the top 10 in several other categories, including fourth with 191 steals and eighth in assists. His 438 free throws are the most by a Kentucky guard.

The two-time Associated Press all-Southeastern Conference selection helped Kentucky win SEC tournament titles in 1986 and 1988 and played in four NCAA Tournaments.

Stuard takes lead at Zurich

Golf: Brian Stuard completed his second straight bogey-free round to take a one-shot lead in the waterlogged Zurich Classic in Avondale, Louisiana.

Stuard played just six holes, completing his second round with a 4-under 68 to reach 12 under at TPC Louisiana. Jamie Landmark and Jhonattan Vegas were tied for second. They finished the second round Friday.

The 33-year-old Stuard, winless on the PGA Tour, continued his steady play with two birdies Some players were able to begin the third round on Saturday before thunderstorms swept through the area, but the leaders haven’t teed off.

Top-ranked Day was five strokes behind Stuard after shooting a 68 in the second round.

Rain delays have interrupted two out of three days of the tournament. More rain is forecast for Sunday. PGA Tour tournament director Steve Carman said there is a small possibility that all four rounds of the tournament could be completed Sunday, but with more rain expected, a Monday finish is more likely.

Piller leads: Gerina Piller took a two-stroke lead in the LPGA Tour’s Volunteers of America Texas Shootout in Irving, Texas, putting her in position for a breakthrough victory in her home event. Winless in 123 career starts, the 31-year-old Piller shot a bogey-free 4-under 67 to reach 14-under 199 at Las Colinas Country Club.

South Korean players held the next four spots on the leaderboard. Amy Yang (65) and Mi Jung Hur (66) were tied for second at 12 under, and Jenny Shin (65) and Sei Young Kim (68) were 10 under.

Piller lives in Plano, about 20 miles from Las Colinas. The long-hitting U.S. Solheim Cup hero grew up in Roswell, New Mexico, and played at UTEP.

A number of friends from high school and college joined her family – led by her husband, PGA Tour player Martin Piller – on the course following her. Martin Piller was back in town after missing the cut in the Zurich Classic in Louisiana.

Piller hit to 4 feet to set up a birdie on the par-4 second, then birdied three straight par 5s – two-putting No. 3 and making a 5-footer on No. 7 and a 10-footer on No. 10. She parred the final eight holes.

Piller has hit 52 of 54 greens in regulation, with the two misses coming in the first round. She tied for third last week in California in the Swinging Skirts for her third straight top-six finish.

Dimitrov to face Schwartzman

Tennis: Second-seeded Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria faces unseeded Diego Schwartzman of Argentina in the final of the Istanbul Open with the two players meeting for the first time.

Dimitrov reached his eighth ATP Tour final by defeating third-seeded Ivo Karlovic 7-6 (0), 7-6 (2) in Istanbul. Big-serving Karlovic served nine aces and never faced a break point but Dimitrov hit 10 aces and dominated both tiebreakers to get a chance of claiming his fifth title.

Schwartzman came back from a set down to upset fourth-seeded Federico Delbonis 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-2. It was Schwartzman’s first victory over his countryman after two losses.

Schwartzman failed to serve out the first set at 5-4, but prevailed in the following two sets to advance to his maiden final.

Safarova wins: Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic came from a set down to win the Prague Open, overcoming Sam Stosur of Australia 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the final at Prague. Safarova broke Stosur for 4-3 in the final set and served out with her 14th ace to claim her seventh WTA title, and first in 14 months. She improved her record against Stosur to 11-3.

“It was a big fight,” Safarova said. “It’s always tough against her. I was waiting for my chance and it came in the second set.”

Coming back from a bacterial infection last year, Safarova, the French Open runner-up last year, didn’t win a singles this season until this week in Prague, where she won five in a row.

In the opening set, Stosur got a break for 2-0 and held on, saving one break point at 4-2 before serving it out.

But she struggled with her serve in the remaining two sets, serving seven double faults. She didn’t look disappointed after the final.

“I still had a pretty good week,” the 2011 U.S. Open champion said.

Safarova broke Stosur to go 2-0 up in the second set after the Australian double-faulted on a break point, and got another break for 4-0 with a forehand winner.

Motocross: Ryan Dungey wrapped up his second straight Monster Energy AMA Supercross season title and third overall with a fourth-place finish at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The Red Bull KTM factory rider, an eight-time winner this year, has a 36-point lead over Suzuki’s Ken Roczen with one race left. Dungey’s record podium streak ended at 31. He won his first title in 2010.

Roczen dominated the race, leading all 20 laps for his fifth victory of the season. Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac Cortez was second, and Honda’s Cole Seely was third.

Honda’s Malcolm Stewart won the Eastern Regional 250SX race for his second victory of the year. Husqvarna’s Martin Davalos was second, and Yamaha’s Jeremy Martin third.

Stewart leads the standings, 14 points ahead of Yamaha’s Aaron Plessinger with one race left. Plessinger was fifth Saturday.
