Dayton cancels Tuesday’s National Night Out

Dayton has canceled its annual National Night Out event, planned for Tuesday evening in the City Park, according to Tim Quigg, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Civil Deputy and event organizer.
Firefighters responding to the North Touchet Fire are encamped at the City Park and alongside the Dayton High School gym, both areas where activities for National Night Out were scheduled to take place.
Event organizers will use the hotdogs and chips already purchased for the event to provide a barbecue for firefighters instead.
Waitsburg is still planning its National Night Out events on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. in the school athletic fields.
