Man faces assault charges after chasing roommate around with kitchen utensils

From staff reports

A man faces a charge of first-degree assault after chasing his roommate around the house with kitchen utensils and making slashing motions, saying “I’m going to kill you.”

On Monday, Vance Rios, 24, tackled his roommate and hit him in the face with a metal spatula, cutting his nose, court documents say. Rios then chased the roommate around the home with a kitchen knife; the victim eventually took refuge in the basement, documents say.

Rios returned to the kitchen and got a butcher’s knife, grabbed a piece of metal, and began making “sharpening noises” while repeating “I’m going to kill you” and “I’ll stab you,” court documents say.

The victim had minor injuries to his face and body.
