Parents of suspect in Mukilteo party shooting say they’re anguished

Associated Press

EVERETT – The parents of the 19-year-old man charged with fatally shooting three other teens and wounding a fourth at a party in suburban Seattle last weekend say they are anguished over what happened.

They say they taught their son, Allen Ivanov, to love life and respect other people, and that “never in our worst nightmares did we think it would come to such tragedy for our family, our friends, our community.”

The statement was released by Ivanov’s lawyers Wednesday, a day after Snohomish County prosecutors charged him with aggravated first-degree murder in the shooting in Mukilteo early Saturday.

Ivanov’s parents said they wish they could ease the grief of the victims’ families.

The surviving victim, Will Kramer, was upgraded to satisfactory condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Wednesday.
