Tip leads to seizure of 27 guns at residence near Moses Lake

Associated Press

MOSES LAKE – Police say they’ve arrested a man after a tip led them to find 27 illegally-owned guns, including a sawed-off shotgun with an altered serial number, at a residence in Central Washington.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that 23-year-old convicted felon Celton Kimmell was arrested Monday for possession of illegal firearms.

The Sheriff’s Office received the tip and forwarded it to the state Department of Corrections, which, with the Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team, conducted a compliance check at the home near Moses Lake where they found the weapons in a gun safe.

The Sheriff’s Office said Kimmel could face 29 felony charges due to the arrest.

Kimmel remains in jail. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
