Perez’s homer in 11th sends Spokane Indians to 5-4 win

SALEM-KEIZER, Ore – Brallan Perez hit a two-out solo home run in the top of the 11th inning and the Spokane Indians went on to a 5-4 victory over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in a Northwest League game on Monday night.
The Indians led 4-2 in the eighth when the Volcanoes rallied for two runs with two outs on a walk, double and broken-bat bloop single.
Spokane had taken the two-run lead in the sixth on a run-scoring double by Todd McDonald, which brought in Preston Scott. McDonald advanced to third on a ground out and scored on a passed ball.
Darius Day gave the Indians a 1-0 lead in the second, driving in McDonald from second with two outs. Gio Brusa hit a solo homer in the bottom of the inning before Spokane made it 2-1 in the third when Scott doubled in Charles Leblanc. Salem-Keizer tied the game again in the fifth.
McDonald, Day and Leblanc each had two hits for the Indians.
Steven Bruce (1-0) got the victory with three innings of scoreless relief. Three Spokane Indians combined for 11 strikeouts.
The Indians won the series 3-2 with the victory in the final game between the teams this season.
Spokane plays at Tri-City for three games beginning Tuesday night before coming home to play Eugene on Friday night.
