Derek Bayley, Eric Ansett in the mix at State Amateur

Washington State University’s Derek Bayley and Eric Ansett, a former standout for Ferris High’s golf team, are in the mix after two rounds of the Washington State Amateur Championship.
Bayley, a Lakeland High product, and Ansett, who plays for Lipscomb University in Nashville, are tied for sixth at 2-under 142 after 36 holes at Tacoma Golf and Country Club. Both opened with even-par 72s on Tuesday, followed by 2-under 70s on Wednesday.
Joe Highsmith (136) holds a four-stroke lead after firing a 65. Aaron Whalen, Bayley’s teammate at WSU, is seven shots off the lead after shooting a 73. Hayden Lake’s Reid Hatley is tied for 29th after rounds of 73 and 75.
