A man has been accused of voyeurism after his girlfriend’s 15-year-old daughter reported finding his cellphone placed in a vent, recording anyone who used the bathroom.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 3100 block of East Chattaroy Road Wednesday morning after the girl found the phone and called her mother. The girl also told deputies that she suspected that her mother’s boyfriend, Shawn F. Collins, was watching her in the shower through a hole in the wall two months ago but that her mother didn’t believe her, according to court documents.
The phone had been recording for 90 minutes when it was found and Collins’ face is shown at the start of the video before the camera is placed in the vent, court documents state. The girl was in the bathroom during the recording but did not take any clothing off.
Collins reportedly told deputies that the phone had been left inside the vent “in error” and that he must have inadvertently hit the record button, according the court documents.
