Man caught with 20 pounds of cocaine receives 10 years in prison

A man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being caught trying the cross the U.S./Canadian border while carrying 20 pounds of cocaine.

Hever Guzman Guerrero, 28, is a Mexican citizen and will be deported after serving his prison sentence, according to a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office.

Guerrero was living in Wenatchee and was under investigation by Homeland Security and the Border Patrol for suspected drug smuggling when he was caught trying to carry the cocaine into Canada on foot near Oroville in September.
