Cyclist struck by vehicle, thrown onto hood of car
Mon., Aug. 22, 2016
A North Idaho cyclist was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when he was struck from behind by a car and thrown onto the vehicle’s hood and windshield.
Richard B. Feldman, 65, of Hayden, was cycling near 22445 N. Abbott Road when the 4:10 p.m. accident occurred, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office. Feldman’s right arm and lower body were injured, and he was transported to Kootenai Health for serious, but not life threatening, injuries.
The Toyota Camry that struck Feldman was driven by Sanford L. Johnson, 86, of Athol, who told sheriff’s deputies that he didn’t see the cyclist.
The accident investigation is ongoing, but alcohol does not appear to be a factor, sheriff’s deputies said.
