Investigators search for cause of house fire on South Maple
Fri., Aug. 26, 2016
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of a late-night house fire in the 1800 block of South Maple Thursday.
Crews responded to the home, which appeared to be under renovation, just before 11 p.m. The fire appeared to start in an attached garage and was spreading to the home, according to a Spokane Fire Department news release.
The garage and a vehicle inside it were damaged and there was also smoke damage in the home. Witnesses said they believed squatters were living in the home and had left before the fire was reported, according to the news release.
