Motorcyclist killed in crash near the Spokane County Fairgrounds
Sat., Aug. 27, 2016
A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup truck Saturday afternoon in the 5200 block of East Broadway Avenue.
The man was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on Broadway while the truck was heading west, according to a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office news release. The truck slowed and began to turn south across the eastbound lanes of traffic.
The motorcyclist is believed to have been speeding, the news release said. He laid his motorcycle down in an attempt to avoid a collision but slid into the truck. He died at the scene.
The driver of the truck has been cooperative and has not been charged with a crime but the crash is still under investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said. The name of the motorcyclist will be released by the medical examiner after an autopsy.
Broadway is still closed between Havana and Yardley. Investigators hope to have it open by 8:30 p.m.
