Idaho Peace Officers Memorial considers adding K9 tribute
BOISE – The Idaho Officers Memorial Board is considering adding a tribute to police dogs at the memorial’s Meridian site.
The Idaho Statesman reported that memorial board members and K9 memorial committee members met last week to discuss where they could display a bronze canine bust and the names of slain police dogs.
Board President Mike Johnson said the committee must now raise funds and come up with a specific proposal to present to the board for approval.
The decision comes in the wake of the line-of-duty death of Boise police dog Jardo on Nov. 16.
Johnson said people associated with the peace officer’s memorial have been deluged with questions about adding a police dog memorial since Jardo’s death.
