Boys basketball: Brayden Menti helps Timberlake edge Genesis Prep
Brayden Menti scored 15 points and Timberlake cranked up its defense after the first quarter to hold off the visiting Jaguars 55-53 in nonleague action on Wednesday.
Menti and Jacob James both hit 1 of 2 free throws in the final 10 seconds to help fend off the Jaguars.
Timberlake trailed 21-11 after the first period, but the Tigers pitched a shutout in the second quarter and used a 15-0 run to take a 26-21 lead at the half.
Tri-Cities Prep 55, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 36: Max Nelson scored nine of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter as Tri-Cities Prep pulled away from the visiting Broncos in Pasco.
The game was a make-up rescheduled due to weather on Tuesday.
David Ziebell had a team-high 10 points for LRS.
LRS stayed within striking distance, trailing by eight entering the fourth quarter, when Nelson put them away with the hot hand.
