In Brief: Dishman Hills group leads Big Rock hike

HIKING – Dishman Hills Conservancy members are leading a winter hike into the Rocks of Sharon on Saturday, likely through several inches of cold, beautiful snow.

The group will depart the Stevens Creek Trailhead at 10 a.m., hike about 3 miles – gaining 600 feet in elevation – and return around 1 p.m.

The hike is an introduction to both the Big Rock area and the non-profit group that’s worked since the 1960s to protect and preserve natural areas in the Spokane Valley.

The hike is free, but registration is requested on the Dishman Hills Conservancy website.
