Boys basketball: Markeith Brown paces Shadle Park over Ferris in GSL

Markieth Brown led all scorers with 23 points as Shadle Park beat visiting Ferris 62-54 on Friday.

Ferris led 43-41 on Shamrock Campbell’s 3-pointer at the end of the third quarter. Andreas Brown answered with a basket, then Tanner Groves scored twice inside to put the Highlanders up 47-43 and Ferris didn’t recover.

Brown hit five 3-pointers and was 6 of 6 on free throws. Shadle Park (4-1, 2-1) also got 21 points from Tanner Groves and 14 points from Adrian Conway.

Ferris (2-2, 1-2) was led by Campbell’s 14 points and Michael Ervin added 12.

Shadle Park plays Rogers on Tuesday and Ferris takes on Wenatchee in a nonleague game on Saturday.

Gonzaga Prep 73, North Central 35: Anton Watson scored 23 points with 10 rebounds and the Bullpups (4-0, 3-0) routed the visiting Indians (0-4, 0-3).

NC led 15-13 after the first quarter, but Gonzaga Prep turned it on with a 20-6 second quarter and were not challenged in the second half.

Sam Lockett had 11 points for G-Prep, while Devin Culp had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

North Central was led by Leon Sayers with 10 points.

The Bullpups host U-Hi on Tuesday, while North Central hosts Central Valley.

University 71, Mt. Spokane 68: Tanner Christensen scored 27 points and was 9 of 12 from the line to help the Titans (3-2, 3-0) top the visiting Wildcats (1-2, 1-2).

Boston Tacke had 18 points while Josh Brantley and Elijah Ramirez added 10 points apiece for U-Hi.

JT Smith paced Mt. Spokane with 19 points, nailing three 3-pointers. Phalon Maddox added 16 points.

Mt. Spokane plays Ferris on Tuesday while Rogers plays Lake City in a nonleague game on Saturday.

Lewis and Clark 64, Rogers 38: Anthony Smith and Naje Smith scored 13 points apiece and the Tigers (4-1, 3-0) defeated the visiting Pirates (0-4, 0-3).

Lewis and Clark went 16 of 28 from the line. Smith had a pair of 3-pointers.

Rogers was led by Maks Babich, scoring 13 points with two 3-pointers.

Lewis and Clark faces Mead on Tuesday.

Central Valley 63, Mead 39: Ryan Rehkow and Grant Hannan scored 11 points apiece and the visiting Bears (3-1, 2-1) got out quickly and handled the Panthers (1-3, 0-3).

CV led 30-11 at intermission. Zach Stocker scored 10 points for CV and Cameron Ballif hit three 3-pointers to finish with nine points.

The Bears shot 57 percent compared to Mead’s 33 percent. Mead was led by Vinny Saldana with 11 points.
