Area roundup: Levi Taylor leads CCS men to romp

Levi Taylor, a Lewis and Clark graduate, poured in 38 points, 28 in the first half, and added eight rebounds in the Sasquatch’s 103-74 drubbing of Grays Harbor College at the Spokane Crossover at CCS.

Taylor was efficient from the field, making 50 percent of his shots from the field (12 of 24) and was 6 of 11 from 3-point range.

Garrett Hull chipped in 16 points and five assists for CCS (8-2). George Williams also had 13 points for the Sasquatch.

Malik Redmond led the Chokers with 27 points and Jared Jackson added 15 boards.

North Idaho 87, Northwest College 86: The Cardinals (8-1) won the first game of the Northwest College Classic in Powell, Wyoming, with a narrow win over the Trappers.

Women’s basketball

Spokane CC 76, Skagit Valley 67: The Sasquatch received a 34-point performance on 11-of-20 shooting from sophomore guard Brianna King to boost CCS (5-1) to a win over the Cardinals at the Skagit Valley Crossover in Mt. Vernon, Washington.

Molly Webster chipped in 11 points for CCS, which has won three straight. Kaitlyn Ward pulled in eight rebounds and Shaye Swannack dished out five assists, both team highs.

Emily Yost led Skagit Valley with 17 points and eight rebounds.

Boys basketball

Kellogg 46, Lakeland 40: Tyler Gibbons recorded 11 points, with three steals and seven assists in host Kellogg’s (5-0) narrow win over Lakeland 46-40.

Lakeland was led in scoring by Kaden Davis with 14 points.

Coeur d’Alene 59, Genesis Prep 45: The host Vikings held the Jaguars to 14 points in the first half.

Joey Naccarato scored a game-high 21 points and Sam Matheson, who was 3 for 6 from 3-point range, scored 15 to lead the Vikings.

Junior Williams led GP with 20 points, making four 3-pointers.

Girls basketball

Kellogg 56, Lakeland 50: Marley Chambers finished with 17 points and Abby Arthur added 16 points to lead the Wildcats (4-3, 1-0) over the visiting Hawks (0-8, 0-1).

Lauren Cooper had 16 points to lead Lakeland.

Coeur d’Alene Charter 52, North Idaho Chritian 34: Kelly Ruebke scored 21 points and Coeur d’Alene Charter defeated host North Idaho Christian.

North Idaho Christian was led in scoring by Kaylee Prosch with 15 points.

After overcoming foul troubles early on, CdA Charter controlled the boards, led by Alexis Taylor with 11.

GSL wrestling

University 43, Lewis and Clark 29: The Titans grabbed 16 points in the final three matches to pull ahead of the host Tigers. Tim Westbrook picked up a key six points in the 120-pound weight class, pinning Devrin Chullanandana in 3 minutes, 48 seconds to seal the victory.

Ferris 60, Shadle Park 10: The Saxons won 11 of 14 matches against the host Highlanders in a rout. Seven of those 11 victories came on pins.

Mt. Spokane 48, North Central 30: Max Walker (152) notched a pin to help lift the host Wildcats over the Indians.
