GSL girls: Central Valley remains undefeated after prevailing in showdown with Mt. Spokane
The Central Valley Bears remained undefeated on the season with a resounding 43-25 basketball victory at Mt. Spokane on Thursday, also handing the Wildcats (4-1, 4-1 Greater Spokane League) their first loss of the season.
CV limited Mt. Spokane to 14 points in the final three quarters.
Lexie Hull poured in 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Bears (5-0, 5-0). Lacey Hull added 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks.
Gonzaga Prep 62, Mead 53: Olivia Meyer scored 15 points, Faith Pinney poured in four 3-pointers and Molly McDermott chipped in 14 points to help the Bullpups dispatch the visiting Panthers.
G-Prep (5-1, 5-0) outscored Mead (4-3, 2-3) 31-7 in the third quarter after trailing by three at halftime.
Meyer also tallied nine rebounds for the Bullpups. Aaliyah Pauling led the Panthers with 16 points.
North Central 52, Shadle Park 27: North Central (1-5, 1-4) held the Highlanders (0-6, 0-5) to three points in the first half and picked up a home victory.
Sophomore Quincy McDeid led the Indians with 14 points. NC shot 59 percent from the field.
Junior Makenna Grier had 13 points and drilled three 3-pointers for the Highlanders.
Lewis and Clark 78, Ferris 50: Arianna Reeves scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the visiting Tigers’ (3-4, 3-2) drubbing of the Saxons in a Greater Spokane League rivalry game.
Dominique hit two 3-pointers and finished with 10 points for the Tigers. Payton Royston chipped in 15 points for Ferris.
University 72, Rogers 44: The Titans outscored the visiting Pirates (2-5, 1-4) 20-4 in the first quarter to cruise to a 28-point victory.
Megan Taylor scored 13 points for U-Hi (4-3, 3-2).
Rogers’ Savanna Wickering led all scorers with 16 (6 of 8 from the field, 4 of 6 from 3).
Gymnastics
Mead’s Zella Conley won the all-around (36.5 points), balance beam (8.95) and vault (9.4) to propel the Panthers to a narrow victory over second-place Mt. Spokane (167.325-161.55) in a GSL meet at the Mead/Mt. Spokane Gymnastics Center.
Mt. Spokane’s Reigan Kampmann finished second in the all-around (35.2) to help the Wildcats. Anna Johnson helped University to a third-place finish (161.5) by finishing third in all-around.
