Clearwater Paper Corp. has purchased a paperboard company in Virginia for $68 million.
Manchester Industries of Richmond makes paperboard, a lightweight cardboard, for use in packaging and by commercial printers. The company employs 170 people at five plants in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Texas and Michigan.
Linda Massman, Clearwater’s president and chief executive, said in a company news release that the five plants will help Clearwater expand its sales to small and mid-sized folding carton plants.
Spokane-based Clearwater makes toilet paper and other tissue products, paperboard and pulp at its Lewiston, Idaho, facility and other plants across the country.
