Area boys: Hillard, Holecek pace East Valley over Sandpoint

Jeremiah Hillard and Eli Holecek scored 14 points apiece and East Valley (4-5) pulled away in a 58-46 win over visiting Sandpoint (1-6) in a nonleague game on Thursday.

The Knights led by one, 27-26 at the half, but used an 18-11 run in the third quarter to take control, and a 13-9 fourth-quarter spurt to salt it away. Ale-Dre Bracey sparked the offense off the bench for 13 points.

Taran McGaughlin led Sandpoint with 12 points.

Both teams will participate in next week’s West Valley Eagle Holiday Classic tournament.

Odessa-Harrington 81, Reardan 64: Freshman Ryan Moffet scored a season-high 42 points and the Titans (3-2) defeated the visiting Indians (1-4).

O-H led 34-32 at halftime and used a 27-10 thrid quarter to pull away. Camden Weber, Colton Hunt, and John DeWulf added 11 points apiece for O-H.

Tyler Sprecher led Reardan with 21 points, Andrew Alsept added 13 and Riley McCoy had 11.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 41, Wilbur-Creston 39: Mac Isaak made two free throws with eight seconds left in the game to lift the visiting Warriors (6-2) to a road win over the Wildcats (3-4).

Isaak finished the game with 24 points while Devin Magers led Wilbur-Creston with 10 points.

Wellpinit 81, Inchelium 47: Brandon Flett recorded a triple-double with 10 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists – also adding seven steals – and the Redskins (6-1) beat the Hornets (4-3) in the championship game at the Wellpinit holiday tournament.

Wellpinit broke out with a 28-7 first-quarter lead and never looked back. Cedric Bowen led Wellpinit with 23 points.

McKennon Andrews led Inchelium with 13 points.

Lakeside (ID) 59, Cusick 54: Takoda Abrahamson scored 26 points to help the Knights (2-4) top the Panthers (4-6) in the consolation game at the Wellpinit holiday tournament.

Lakeside led 30-18 at the half, but Cusick trimmed its deficit to three with 50 seconds to go. Cusick was forced to foul, and Abrahamson knocked down 3 of 4 late free throws to seal it.

Alex Pakootas scored 16 points with 11 rebounds for the Knights.

Dylan Hendershott led Cusick with 23 points.

Caesar Chavez 74, Genesis Prep 67: Junior Williams scored 23 points but the Jaguars (3-3) fell to Caesar Chavez in the Phoenix Union High School District Holiday Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona.
