Retired police officer selected to head Spokane Police internal affairs

The Spokane Police Department has selected retired police officer Jacquelyn MacConnell as the civilian director of the Strategic Initiatives Division, where she will oversee internal affairs and training.

MacConnell was with the Phoenix Police Department for 20 years, retiring as acting bureau commander in 2014. She holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff.

MacConnell was a finalist for the Spokane police ombudsman position earlier this year. She will start work on Jan. 31 if she is confirmed by the Spokane City Council.
