IRS: it’s worth your time to see if you’re eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit

The IRS wants taxpayers who earned less than $53,267 last year to know that they may qualify for a lucrative credit that can put thousands of dollars back in their pockets.

The Earned Income Tax Credit was used by 37,600 Spokane County residents last year, who claimed an average of $2,213, according to the IRS. The maximum credit is $6,242. This credit is refundable, meaning it’s available even to people who didn’t owe income taxes.
