Cause of fire in vacant Spokane home unclear

Investigators are working to the find cause of a Wednesday night fire that damaged a vacant home in northeast Spokane.

Firefighters were called to the home at the intersection of East Euclid Avenue and North Altamont Street around 11 p.m. and found the back of a borded up home on fire, the fire department said in a news release. The fire moved quickly up the outside wall and into the house.

Putting out the fire was a challenge because of the boarded up windows and secured doors at the home, the release said.

Damage to the home was estimated at $30,000. Nobody was found inside.
