Don’t placate zealots

A letter from Norm Luther on Jan. 30 laments the fact that ISIS is using videos of Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz as recruiting tools, and essentially blames Republicans for that.

Perhaps he would like Americans to only support candidates approved by ISIS for our elections. If they start using videos of female elected officials, shall we ban them from elected office? He is aware of how ISIS feels about infidel women, is he not?

Why would we allow religious zealots to affect any part of civilized society? As seen recently in Europe, we are willing to relax our beliefs to conform to people who hate us and want to destroy us. While the Iranian president visited Italy, Italian officials had nude statues at a museum covered up so as not to offend him. Perhaps we should just throw a tarp over all of Western society so we are not used in an ISIS recruitment video. Wake up, America.
