Four Corners: WSU still hobbling

Coming up: Thursday at Colorado, 7 p.m. (Pac-12); Sunday at Utah, 2 p.m. (Pac-12)

Outlook: Washington State heads to the mountains in search of its first road win of the season. The Cougars wouldn’t mind some able bodies in their front court, either. Josh Hawkinson missed WSU’s last game, against Arizona State, with a foot injury, while Junior Longrus played through a groin injury in the loss to the Sun Devils. While that game saw the return of starting center Valentine Izundu, it also saw Conor Clifford hobble to the locker room with an apparent leg injury. The Cougars have lost nine consecutive games and badly need a win, if only to remind the players of the potential rewards for all their hard work during the week. But Colorado and Utah are difficult teams who play in front of energized crowds, so a win or two will be tough tasks for an undermanned WSU team.

WSU leaders:

Scoring: Josh Hawkinson 15.9 ppg

Rebounding: Josh Hawkinson 11.0 rbg

Assists: Ike Iroegbu 3.8 apg
