Yakima woman faces charges following death of bicyclist

Associated Press

YAKIMA – A 24-year-old Yakima woman is facing charges following a collision that killed a 60-year-old bicyclist.

The Yakima Herald reported in a story on Saturday that Josclyn Olivas was charged with vehicular assault and hit-and-run resulting in a fatality.

Authorities say that Ronald Knowlton was riding his bike at about 11 p.m. Feb. 6 when he was struck by a vehicle.

Yakima police say the driver then hit a parked truck and ran away.

Authorities say police later arrested Olivas when she returned to her home near the scene of the accident.

A police report describes her as being “extremely intoxicated.”
